Dear Friends, Supporters, Donors, & Volunteers —
As the final numbers from last night’s primary election come in, I want to take this opportunity to thank you so very much for your support, your enthusiasm and your encouragement in what was a very competitive race.
Though I’m disappointed that I did not receive the votes to move forward to a run-off in November, I am proud of the campaign that we ran together: positive, focused on the issues, fighting for the values that we hold dear; and most importantly, working together alongside some of the most passionate and inspiring people in our communities.
This campaign made me feel even more enamored of our incredibly beautiful Central Coast and the creative and innovative people living in it. Each corner of the 24th Congressional District – from Paso Robles to Ventura – has its unique qualities and attributes, yet shares common themes of creating a place where people can thrive while also honoring and protecting this place we are lucky enough to call home. I look forward to my continued work serving our community as Mayor of Santa Barbara.
Thank you to so many of you who showed up and spoke up on my behalf and for this campaign during these many months. As one of my heroines Amelia Earhart once said, “The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life; and the procedure, the process is its own reward.”
